African Collages

These were collages made from natural and scrap materials when Cleve found himself in countries where artist’s materials were hard to obtain. He lived in Zaire from 1985 – 1986 and Senegal from 1982 – 1983 and 1992 – 1994. He also made stylized African masks that he exhibited in La Taj Gallery, Alexandria, VA in 1997.
